Heavy Vehicles

When renewing your heavy vehicle drivers licence, you are required to complete forms to determine you are medically fit to drive.

The requirement by RMS is due to the fact that you are driving heavy, commercial vehicles on our roads, let alone the Workers Health & Safety aspects.

Driving a heavy vehicle can be a demanding job and any medical issue that may affect your driving is taken very seriously.

​

We provide assessments taking into account the operation of the heavy vehicle by the drive, the loading/unloading of the vehicle, ability to conduct safety checks and secure loads.

​

We will observe speed control, road position, planning and judgment, operation of controls and reaction time during the assessment, which is overseen by a qualified heavy vehicle driving instructor.
