Vehicle Modifications

Due to medical circumstances, some drivers may need their vehicle modified so they can perform the tasks needed to drive safely.

If that is the case, an assessment will need to be performed by us, an Occupational Therapy Assessor, to determine the level of modification required.

​

We will factor into our assessment the ergonomic aspects for correct driving, i.e. seating aids, lumbar support, gel/air cushions to minimise any injury to you when driving.

​

Based on the recommendation(s) for your vehicle's modifications, a registered engineer is to perform the necessary changes needed for you to drive. These may include:

• Steering aids

• Hand controls

• Pedal adjustments,

to name a few.

There are more technical modifications that are available to assist drivers with limited upper limb function.
